The basis of expanded stem recipe lies in cuts of Virginia and Burley tobacco stems. The physical and chemical properties of tobacco by-products are heterogeneous, therefore at purchase and acceptance of the raw materials we conduct a strict laboratory quality control.
Nowadays, expanded stem is considered as one of the main tools for reducing harm of tobacco products. Smoking tests of cigarette blends containing expanded stem confirm that it is possible to use between 15 to 30% of this product in a blend. The rate of expanded stems with absolutely neutral taste in cigarettes may increase up to 30% without creating a negative aftertaste or change in blend characteristics.
The expanded stem is considered to be an ideal constituent of a tobacco blend with such major benefits as:

Processed tobacco stems are a lower-cost alternative to the expensive tobacco leaf, thanks to its higher filling power, which is between 30-35% higher than that of the cut rag. The high filling power reduces the cigarettes' weight that leads to increase in cigarette yield per 1 kilo of cut rag.
